Nobody Teaches You This Part
“I know I’m supposed to be doing something.”
I hear this from women all the time.
They feel drawn to spiritual work. Healing work. Ritual. Supporting other women.
Some have been feeling it for years.
But knowing you’re called and knowing what to do with that calling are two very different things.
And I think this is where a lot of women get stuck.
You keep reading.
You keep learning.
You keep watching other people do the work.
But at some point, you have to move from learning about the work to actually practicing it.
That requires something different.
You have to learn how to sit with a woman and truly listen.
How to ask the right questions.
How to create sacred space with intention.
How to guide someone through a ritual instead of simply performing one.
How to trust what you know while also recognizing what you still need to learn.
A calling may lead you to the work. But practice is what prepares you to do it.
I think sometimes we wait to feel completely ready before we take the first step.
But most of us did not become practitioners because one morning we suddenly felt ready.
We became practitioners because somewhere along the way, we finally began to practice.
So if you know you're called, perhaps the question isn't:
“Am I ready?”
Perhaps the better question is:
“What am I doing to prepare?”
